Research methodology

Research means search again & again A research design can be defined as the plan, structure and strategy of investigation conceived so as to obtain answers to research questions and to control variants. It is the blue print of research study. Once it is realized that the secondary sources of data are insufficient, the researcher need to decide upon one alternative design to collect primary data. The three basic methods which can be used are:

Define the problem

A study

on Absenteeism at shiv industry.

Objective of the study

To study and understand as to what exactly is problem for absenteeism. To study the maximum utilization of the HRM. To study the working conditions prevailing in the organization. To study the growing rate of absenteeism among the workmen in the factory. To study the Cost / Effect of Absenteeism To provide Guidelines / Strategies in order to curb the absenteeism.

Rationale of the study

Descriptive Studies: Formalized studies are typically structured with clearly states hypotheses or investigative question. Most of the social research comes under this category. The simplest study concerns a unvaried question or hypothesis in which we ask about the size, forms, problem of employee.

Data Collection

Primary Data: The primary data are original data which are collected for the first time for specific purpose. Such data are published by authorities who themselves are responsible for their collection, And in these project to collect as a questionnaire. Secondary Data: The secondary data are those which have already been processed. Sales analysis summaries and investor annual reports would be examples of secondary source as they are compiled from a variety of primary source. And in these project to collect departmental data as a secondary data.

1.Probability: This is based on the concept of random selection a controlled procedure that assures that each population element is given a know nonzero chance of selection. 2. Sampling technique: Convenience sampling technique was used for data collection. This is arbitrary and subjective studies. And also each member of the population does not have a known chance of being include. 3. Sample Size: 30 employees were selected in sample unit.

Suggestions

Absenteeism is a serious problem for management because it involves heavy additional expenses. The management should take the following measures to reduce the rate of absenteeism: The shiv industry has no give the wages and overtime salary to the workers so my suggestion is the industry have provide the wages and overtime salary to the workers.

Employee Assistance Program- If you confront an employee about his or her frequent absenteeism and you find out that it is due to personal problems refer them to EAP. Sickness Reporting Tell employees that they must phone in as early as possible to advise why they are unable to make it to work and when they expect to return. Return to Work Interview- When an employee returns to work then ensure that they have a return to work interview. In this project while identifying the reasons of absenteeism of the workers of SHIV INDUSTRY I got an opportunity to interact with workers to observe their behavior and attitude.

Conclusion

To conclude, employees dissatisfaction towards job & welfare measures, hectic work schedule, stress, health problems are some of the major causes of absenteeism. This can be reduced by the management by implementing various employee satisfactory changes in the organization. People are the major assets of any organization and taking care of their welfare and satisfaction is their duty as a whole apart from earning profit. As work environment is becoming more challenging and complex, the management must also see through it that, it is capable of managing and bringing in changes at the same pace so as to survive in this competitive scenario.
