STALL

Air whirls around irregularly- turbulance Thus all of sudden lift from upper surface dissappear- STALL Stall appears where shape of the wing tappers too quickly High angle of attack- high chances of stalling Stall results in decreasing lift coefficient with increasing angle of attack

Angle of attack
= low

= medium <10 degrees = High Stall!!

R

R TSR = V
Where, = rotational speed in radians /sec

R = Rotor Radius V = Wind Free Stream Velocity

Rotor solidity
Solidity is the ratio of total rotor planform area to total swept area Low solidity (0.10) = high speed, low torque

High solidity (>0.80) = low speed, high torque

WHY ARE WIND TURBINES WHITE IN COLOR.?

To blend with the surroundings

For pleasant visual effect

Attracts insects species Attrects birds and bats for their pray insects.! according to Loughborough Universitys studypainted purple
