INTRODUCTION

WHAT IS RED TACTON?

Anew of Human Area Networking (HAN) technology that will allow you to use your body surface for safe & high speed data q It is invented by Nippon telegraph transmission. & Telephone corporation of Japan. q Redtacton uses weak electric fields on the surface of the body as a transmission medium.
q

Technically its completely distinct to wireless and infrared.

q

Communication possible through any part of the body.

WHY THE NAME IS RED TACTON? Red:- Radiation T:- Touch Action:- Action

q q q

The name chosen for this technology is derived from Tacton meaning Action Triggered by Touching combined with Red, which in Japanese culture means warmth and love, to convey the interpersonal communications.

The concept of intra-body communication was first proposed by IBM in 1996.

HISTOR Y

This communication mechanism was later evaluated and reported by several research groups around the world.

All those reported technologies had two limitations: The operating range through the body was limited to a few tens of centimeters. The top communication speed was only 40 bit/s. These limitations were overcome by NTT by using photonic electric field sensors and finally4/8/12 in 2005

Human area network

Human area networking involves the actions of humans by which the transmission is possible.

Basic principle of redtacton Red Tacton relies upon the principle that the optical properties of an electro-optic crystal can vary according to the changes of a weak electric field.
v

RedTacton operates on the idea that optical properties of an electro-optic crystal can vary according to the changes of a weak electric field. v After contract with another RedTacton enabled device,

the transmitter induces a weak electric field on the vsurface of the body. The weak electric fields pass through the body to a RedTacton receiver, where the weak electric fields affect the optical properties of an electro-optic crystal. The extend to which the optical properties are changed is detected by lasertechnique called electric fieldto an light, which is then converted v RedTacton uses a electrical signal by a detectorthough an electro-optic photonics: A laser is passed circuit.

crystal, which deflects light differently according to the strength of the field across it, so received data also have strong electric field. These deflections are measured and 4/8/12 converted back into electrical signals to retrieve the

MECHANISMFigure shows the various electric fields on the surface of our body induced by the RED TACTON device..

Only a portion of the induced electric field is sensed by the receiving RED TACTON device. The remaining electric fields are dissipated to the ground :

Ea Electric field induced by the transmitter. Eb Electric field returning to the ground of the transmitter. Ec Electric field dissipating into the earth. Es Detected electric field at the receiver. Es = Ea Eb - Ec The electric field Es that reaches the receiver is :

Es = Ea (Eb + Ec)

FEATURES OF RED TACTON

4/8/12

TOUCH: Touching, gripping, sitting, walking, stepping and

other human movements can be the triggers for unlocking or locking, starting or stopping equipment, or obtaining data.

BROAD BAND AND INTERACTIVE: Duplex, interactive

communication is possible at a maximum speed of 10Mbps. Because the transmission path is on the surface of the body, transmission speed does not deteriorate in congested areas.

v ANY MEDIA: In addition to the human body, various

conductors and dielectrics or their combination can be used as transmission media.

advantages
Data transfer is faster and easier through this technology.
v v

Data loss during transfer is less.

Use of minimum amount of power (of some milli volt range).

v v

Security is more. More secure than Bluetooth.

It is more superior than wireless & infrared technologies. 4/8/12

v

Drawbacks
v

Too costly.

It can be useful within few centimeters only.

In this technology there is no problem of hackers as our body is itself a media.

technology present today it can give a better performance over others.

So, in few years from now everything is going to fall under this super technology. And, finally I conclude, FUTURE BELONGS TO RED TACTON
