NGOS

An NGO is a voluntary, non-profit organization that operates, contributes to, or participates in, various projects on education, training or other humanitarian activities. They usually collect donations for running programs for disadvantaged or distressed people. The difference is that NGOs operate on donations, whereas a social business is a selfsustaining business.

CSR

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs are the philanthropic programs of companies. CSR is part of a corporation, which is a profitmaximizing company. A common way of practicing CSR is by donating money for social causes. CSR initiatives in any organisation address both its own competitive interests and the interests of wider society.

FACTS & FIGURES


Indiais estimated to have around 3.3 million NGOs in year 2009, which is one NGO for less than 400 Indians. According to the government study, there were only 1.44 lakh registered societies till 1970. In the following three decades, the number rose to 1.79 lakh, 5.52 lakh, and 11.22 lakh. NGOs are good enough to support industrial development by ensuring community participation in developmental process. Corporate can no longer act as an isolated economic entities operating in detachment of broader society. NGO ensure that CSR to be looked upon as mutual support program that ensure development of entire community. IS NGOS THE BEST WAY ?


NGO can handle both the drivers :One relates to public policy. The second driver is the business driver. NGOs enjoy a higher level of public trust than the business sector and governments and their views are treated with respect for their independence and accuracy. NGOs frequently work on issues that are directly or indirectly related to the business community and social cause. Beyond the larger and better known NGOs, there are literally thousands of smaller NGOs that work at the local level, but which are often well networked globally.

To develop a better rapport with the community in the implementation of the developmental activities the Non Governmental organizations can play better role with the industry and community. They can help the industrial management in convincing the expansion program to the community and there by develop a proactive and social environmental and industrial development policy.

IS THE SOCIETY REALLY GETTING BENEFITED ?


The fact that humankind is using natural resources at a faster rate than they are being replaced. If this continues, future generations will not have the resources they need for their development. Hence the current development is unsustainableit cant be continued for both practical and moral reasons. The community today needs external agency intervention in the alleviation of many social problems like poverty, health, unemployment, community education, homelessness and eco development programs. Strategically speaking, business can only flourish when the communities and ecosystems in which they operate are healthy.

IS THE SOCIETY REALLY GETTING BENEFITED ?


Businesses are an integral part of the communities in which they operate. Smart firms know that business cant succeed in societies that are failingwhether this is due to social or environmental challenges, or governance problems. The needs of current and future generations cannot be met unless there is respect for natural systems and international standards protecting core social and environmental values.

More than excessive use of relationship management techniques they should make use of strategic relationship management approaches such as relationship development, maintenance of relation. After the goal attainment the HR managers should be able to separate themselves from the community and Non Governmental Organizations. The HR managers of the organization should be orienting and experimenting with NGOs in innovative and new areas.
