In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

Research into teen horror.

When researching into teen horrors I looked at other well known films that have a target audience of teens, this way by looking at these films we could analyse what works best into scaring this age range and what gives them a thrill and what entices them to see certain horror films and not others, seeing what makes a good teen horror film and trying to add these aspects into our own horror film. We researched such films as Cabin Fever, Paranormal Activity and Scream of which are all made in different years, showing how technologies have improved over time for major films companies, of which our film couldnt be to such a good standard due to lack of money. I also conducted a survey asking peers around the school (in different year groups to get a representative aspect of ages) asking them question such as What setting do you find most scary taking these results into account helped form our final film, we wanted to create a film which would have as many viewers as possible so that our film would receive a high profit.

Challenge or conform to conventions of horrors?

This shot definitely goes against the social norm of horror films , this is because the film title is exactly half way through the film, with have done this to show the change of time period, however every teen horror film I have researched had their title at the beginning and it the appeared at the end of the film, with the credits, by doing this it may confused the audience, thinking is that the end of the film?.. In fact it is only just the beginning as the bride then arises from the dead for revenge, this is where the main horror appears, especially as the bride then kills her first victim, a typical venerable teenager walking through her local woods.

Challenge or conform to conventions of horrors?

This conforms to the conventions of horrors as we show the death of the bride and imply she is dead by dropping the flowers in slow motion, without actually killing her, this simple technique gives the impression she is dead with simple acting, many other teen films with a low budget use this technique. This conforms to the conventions of horrors as we add our production company at the beginning of the film, as does most of the teen horrors we researched into. It does however Against some horror norms due to the fact that the go writing is rather plain and not gothic like a typical horror film would seem to be.

Challenge or conform to conventions of horrors?

This shot definitely goes against the social conventions of a horror film, because most horror films like to leave the final girl and kill off all her friends, seeing the actress alone and at her most venerable point, making young girls afraid to walk alone at night. We however decided to kill off Bethany our actress because she would be less likely to put up a fight for her death, whereas a man would struggle and push himself off the bride, by showing the Bride and Bethany in the same shot, and then Bethany falls to the floor dead, The Bride is still standing showing power.

Group Roles: the purposes of these.

Anna: Lead Actress (the Bride) Creating the Script As Anna was the lead actress, she was always listening to our ideas of how to improve each scene so we had the filming the best of our abilities. Anna is a key member of the school drama group, therefore we used this to our advantage when writing the script to our film, knowing Anna understand the storyline to the film, making the script basic to learn, but effective to get the storyline across to the audience.

Jess: Creating Evaluation Notes Creating Sound Board, audience theories, Film Recorder. By creating the evaluation notes, this could help the other members of the group to carry on editing the film together. By having two camera recorders we could receive different angles from the same shot take, this improved our results dramatically, adding as many shots and different angles so they audience gets a 360 view, they feel as if they are actually there.

Layla: Creating Character Board Editing the film, Film Recorder. Layla was confident with the editing software the school prepared for us to use by helping Bethany with the editing, this made the process a lot quicker, all 4 group members worked together with which videos we wanted to use, sounds to add, and technical editing to add on. By having two camera recorders we could receive different angles from the same shot take, this improved our results dramatically, adding as many shots and different angles as possible.

Bethany: Editing the film Acting in the film (the girl) Our lead actress playing the girl could not record the same times that we wanted to record, by having a member of our group in it, this increased the amount of time we could record; by working well as a team all 4 of the group members were on set doing something at all times.

Names of characters, and costumes.

Anna, is a key member of the school drama group, therefore we used this to our advantage when writing the script to our film, knowing Anna understand the storyline to the film, making the script basic to learn, but effective to get the storyline across to the audience. The Bride is wearing a typical wedding dress, therefore this will support our target audience analysis of traditionalists, they will enjoy this typical wedding outfit understanding the role of the women without having to tell the audience. As her name is never announced throughout the film, the audience would just refer to her as the killer bride.

Our lead actress playing the girl could not record the same times that we wanted to record, by having a member of our group in it, this increased the amount of time we could record; by working well as a team all 4 of the group members were on set doing something at all times. Bethany was given this role to wear casual girly clothes, fitting into this nicely she wears a dress with a belt, showing she is feminine. If she wore dark emo clothes, the audience would assume she could fight her own battles.

Our lead actor playing the boy could not record the same times that we wanted to record, so we called a friend who was willing to take part in our film and record that day, Chris was very helpful especially as it was so late notice! Chris also wears typical boy jeans and casual top, showing he is laid back, until we see him panic after

When creating I Significance of settings.question of our surveytheadded the Which is scariest setting for a horror film? the most popular answer was a house, however when thinking through our storyline, we didnt think this would work very well as we need natural sunlight and an area to complete a hanging scene, so we therefore decided to go for the second best option of the woods. The significance of this setting is that it is a public area that anyone could walk through, meaning that any woods there could be a killer bride randomly walking through as Bethany and Chris found out in our film. Warning the audience not to walk alone through the woods as it is very dangerous.

Title of our film.

Resentment is the noun form of the verb 'to resent' which means to strongly dislike somebody or something for some reason. For example you could show resentment towards somebody who has said something or done something negative against you. When someone says something and you say "I resent that" it means that you strongly oppose, disagree or dislike what the person has just said. Usually this is a temporary feeling unlike hatred which tends to be more deeprooted. This links in perfectly to our film as it is about a bride who strongly dislikes love due to the fact she is stood up on her own wedding day, she feels if she cannot be loved, no one can, hence why she decides to kill others.

Props used within our film.

These are the props we used within our film, they made the film appear to be more realistic, we did not need many props for our film therefore this made the film even cheaper, and the most money went on costumes which was the Brides dress, of which we collected from a local charity shop, and she gave us discount due to it being a school project. The noose was the main prop used throughout the film, it always appear with the bride. We found dragging the noose through the woods created an uncanny atmosphere due to the fact the audience did not know whether she was going to hang herself, or someone else. The flowers were also used very effectively through the film, as the bride died, she dropped the flowers without actually showing she had died, this small action implied she had,
