Water level indicator is a circuit used to measure the level of water in tanks digitally.

The circuit operates on a 5V regulated dc supply. The circuit is connected with the water tank of which the level is to be measured. Stainless steel rods are used for sensing purpose.8 rods are connected at different level of water through which the level of water is sensed using ic74HC147 which generates active low signal. These active low signals are amplified in active high signals using 4 NPN transistor. The amplified signal is now fed to ic CD4511 whose output is used to glow the 7-segment display according to the level of water.

Basically there are three blocks in this circuit :1. SENSING PART This block senses the level of water in

the water container. This is achieved by using ic 74hc147 which generates active low signal when water level increases. 2. AMPLYFING PART This block amplifies the active low signals to active high signal .For this purpose 4 NPN transistor are used. 3. DISPLAY PART This block displays the level of water digitally. For this purpose a seven segment display is used. The input of 7-segment display is given from ic CD4511 .

As the circuit is not designed completely ,but after the completion of circuit it will be able to measure the level of water stored in water tanks .This circuit can be used for domestic purpose . It is a mini project and if some modification is done in the circuit, then it can be used for large scale measuring of water level .

The idea of this circuit is taken from a website
