The Main gender that we asked to participate in our questionnaire was male, which means the outcome of our questionnaire could be more biased to male audience.

The age of our participants

The general age of the participants who took part in our questionnaire where aged 16-19. This also means that the outcome of our questionnaire will be more focused on what that age range would like to see in our product. However we have to consider that the age group focused on tend to watch more films therefore we will take their views into consideration.

What Genre would you prefer our film to be?

We wanted to explore one of these genres as they tend to be more popular and conventional.
The majority of people said they would like to see a psychological film, so this is the genre that we will consider when coming up with our story line for our short film.

Film rating
Almost all the people we asked would prefer our film to be a 15 so we will consider the conventions of a 15 film when were making our film.
We will also have to closely look at the border of becoming an 18 or a 12A.

What gender would you prefer our main character to be?

The overall majority of the people we asked said they would like to see a male as the main character in our film, so we will be having a male as the lead role. We will also have to now look at other products with males as the lead. This will help our understanding of the conventions needed and the progression of style through time.

Where would you prefer our film to be set?

Most people said they want to see our film set in a basement and 3 people said they would like to see it set in a school. No one said they would like to see our film set in any of the other 3 places, so for our movies we will be setting it in a basement.

This will benefit our genre as it fits perfectly into the style of our chosen genre.

What film company do you think would be more appropriate to produce a psychological film?
Two people said that they think that LionsGate would be that type of company to produce our film, whilst 4 people said Working Title and Film4 each. As it is not that clear which company would be more appropriate for our film we will do a bit more research to find out which film company has produced more films like our own. Generally Film4 and WT are British based companies so we will look into that style also.

What type of music do you think is more appropriate for a psychological film?
A large majority of the people we asked said that atmospheric music is what they would like to see incorporated in a psychological film.
This is promising considering our chosen genre and will fit well, however we shall still experiment with tones and volume to possibly heighten the action or suspense depending on the plot.

Conclusion of research.
The sample group that we asked agreed that the certification should be aimed at a 15 rating. This makes it mature enough for teenagers to watch but not limiting the viewing to an older geographic We wanted to focus on the genre of thriller but we asked out participants what the sub-genre would be and the results show that psychological is preferred. This means we will focus and research further into this area. The main character is preferred to be male therefore we will base the storyline around this one character. Using textual analysis we will be able to notice the conventions that this character must have including traits, strengths, weaknesses and possible psychological aspects.
