POLICY STATEMENT
PILAR
Bethel Temple Incorporated (PBTI) and PH464 Pilar Child Development Center (PCDC) shall Promote the protection of children, prevention of child abuse and all its forms by providing reasonable guidelines to direct the interaction of PBTI, PCDC, employees, program partners, project staff and volunteers, parents including all sponsors and visitors who came into contact with our children.

POLICY STATEMENT
Continued. PROTECT the child from all physical or mental violence, injury or abuse, neglect, maltreatment or exploitation, including sexual abuse. This policy sets out common values, principles, beliefs and describes the steps that will be taken in meeting our commitment to the protection of children.

DEFINITION OF TERMS
CHILD/CHILDREN refers to person below 18 years of age or those over but are enable to fully take care of themselves or protect themselves from abuse, neglect, cruelty, exploitation or

SEXUAL ABUSE
is now considered to be the most harmful type of abuse, because it devastating to a child`s well being. sexual act between an adult and a child.

is the most difficult category of abuse to define. is based on power and control. Rejecting, degrading ,terrorizing and isolating.

PILAR BETHEL TEMPLE Inc. and PH464 Child Development Center shall commit to protect children and youth, registered or nonregistered, member or non-member of the church from any form of child abuse through the ff: Ensure church leaders, department/ministry heads, workers, all PCDC PH464 staff, PBTI volunteers, CPU staff and others who may come in contact with our children should be made aware of the child protection and policy.

BRIDGE THE GAP


Make linkages with the LGU and Barangay Officials re: Child Protection Advocacy of the Church and apply

accreditation to govt. Offices to perform the responsibilities and duties of the church in addressing incidence of many forms of abuse on the community.

IN ACTION
Mobilize church members to organize a Child Protection Unit that will look over to the compliance and commitment of the Child Protection Policy. Child Protection concerns will be covered and discussed in the allotted trainings and workshops.

STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS SHOULD NOT


Be alone with child in a room. If you are alone, keep the door open. Avoid bringing the child to secluded areas. Sleep in the same room as the children, if this is necessary, please ask another volunteer to accompany you. Help children of opposite sex to wash, bath, or dress Bring his mood and personal problem in the workplace.

STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS SHOULD


Be careful to give respect to disabled, children, encourage them to make decisions and to do things for themselves (if able) Use appropriate, non-abusive language and actions to encourage children and increase their confidence and self-esteem. Be willingly open to cater the concerns of the children Be fair at all times Wear proper dress code Honour children, boundaries, avoid questionable behaviour and respect a childs right to privacy. Acknowledge potential of children that are to be harnessed.

If an allegation of a violation of the policies, guidelines, principles or practice of child protection is made by a verifiable source against any employee, contractor, trustee, officer, intern or volunteer, they may be suspended from all the activity/association of the organization pending the outcome on independent investigation made by the committee on a child protection unit. Staff will continue to receive full pay during the time. If comes to the light that any associated with the organization commits act in relation to the children whether within outside the context of the organizations work- which are criminal, grossly infringe childrens right, or contravene the principles and standards contained in this documents, the organization will take immediate disciplinary action and any other action appropriate to the circumstances. This may mean for the disciplinary action/ dismissal, depends on the grievance of offense discussed by the Child Protection Unit (CPU) This may mean for: Employee - disciplinary action/ dismissal Volunteers, trustees, officers and interns - ending the relationship with the organization Contractors- termination of contract

GUIDELINES ON DEALING REPORTED CASES OF CHILD ABUSE


Report from the Child (victim): 1. Create an atmosphere of unconditional love and acceptance that will motivate the child to express freely. 2. Assure the child that she/he knocked on the right door and that you and the church willing to offer her/him help, whatever she/he shared will be kept confidential except to some who\must have their hands on in resolving the situations. 3. Keep calm and show sincerity while listening to a child reporting her/his experience of abuse. Likely evade from unnecessary actions such as exaggerated expressions and impulsive comments that may distract the storytelling.

GUIDELINES ON DEALING CASES OF CHILD ABUSE


Report from the Adult (Third party): Same in step number one (1) Same in step number two (2) Keep clam and show sincerity while listening to a report from reliable source regarding an incidents of child abuse. .

ENSURING THE CHILDS SAFETY

1. Childs safety must be prioritized, hence, actions to be taken must be of precautions. 2. The childs immediate needs upon tracing them must be supplied to him/her as soon as possible . 3. The staff concerned must seek help or relate the situation to the agencies where it demands.

GUIDELINES ON REPORTING AND REFERRAL OF CHILD ABUSE CASES


INTERNAL REPORTING: 1. The concerned staff must safely echo the situation to the Designated Child Protection Officer (DCPO). 2. If the victim is a registered child, the DCPO then will prepare incident report noted by Project Director (PD) and Project Committee Chairman (PCC) and submit it to the Partnership Facilitator( PF) by most direct means, copy furnish the resident Social Worker. 3. If the victim is not a registered child, the DCPO will prepare incident report noted bt Board of Trustees Chairman and Pastor. EXTERNAL REPORTING: 1. The Partnership Facilitator will seek assistance if needed to devise a plan that will address the needs of a child needing a must eyes to get in through.

MONITORING AND EVALUATION


Verifications are needed to ensure that implementation of policies, procedures and plans is happening consistently as planned or intended. Thus; There shall be a Child Protection Policy (CPU) to ensure that the intentions of the organization in relation to safeguarding the children are taking place. The church leadership shall appoint team leader and team members that will comprise the Child Protection Unit (CPU).

MONITORING AND EVALUATION


The Child Protection Unit will have a regular management meetings, supervisions and appraisal sessions (monthly or as needed) to ensure that the implementation of policies, procedures and plans is happening regularly. The Child Protection Unit are obliged to undertake a review of provisions in the policy in the light of differing needs, changes in legislation and guidance, experience and/or structured changes within the organization every 3 years or as needed. The Pilar Bethel Temple, Inc. through the Child Protection Unit is committed to monitor and evaluate its child protection policy through the following action plan and steps.
