SM Elearning Project

The project, "SM elearning:


Was a Leonardo da Vinci programme for vocational training led by GIPFAR (France) and co-coordinated by Fons Formaci Zona Mediterrnia. Was developed over the years 2005-2007 and includes the participation of training centres and SMEs in Spain, Bulgaria, Greece, Poland, Ireland, and Norway.

Project Aims

The main project aims were:


To offer reference points and tools to clarify new technological possibilities and their advantages to training centres and industrial SMEs. To propose new methods, services and contents adapted to new working environments.

Project Phases

The main project phases aimed to:


1 Identify local training problems related to the use of ICT in industrial SMEs. Study ICT based training setups in relation to the needs of SMEs (using a common methodology) and to disseminate the conclusions reached from the examples studied and the research related to them. Identify and disseminate strategic recommendations (good practices) for the application of ICT based training in European industrial companies. Produce a guide for the application of innovative ICT based training in the industrial sector for training centres and their actors. Evaluate the training models studied, the methods, the good practices and recommendations among the different groups identified.

4 main Work Packages

The 4 main Work Packages of the project:


1. WP I : Constitution of workgroup and operation planning Main Product: Setting up of bodies and operational research of working plans. WP II: Research, study and evaluation of good practices Main Product: Index of innovative training practices in industrial SMEs. WP III: Research and study of elearning and ICT based training models Main Products: i. Strategic recommendations for the application of ICT in the training aimed at industrial SMEs. ii. Guide for ICT application within European industrial SME s. WP IV: Evaluation, products validation, final edition , dissemination and valorisation Main Product: Evaluation, valorisation and final assessment of materials developed.

Work Package 2

Work Package 2 represented the main bulk of (theoretical) work in the project The Index of innovative training practices in industrial SMEs.
Aim:
To Identify good practice training set-ups based on ICT for training in industrial SMEs and/or with the workers of industrial SMEs. Focus: - The conditions for success - The conditions to transfer these experiences.

Mainly via evaluation questionnaires (based on the Kirkpatrick model) & aimed at managers/trainers/students and adapted to each profile to find the key points in the areas of motivation, the learning process and results of the training action.

To aid understanding of how information and communication technologies can be used in training, how they improve the performance of training and at the same time, reduce its cost, and finally how they help develop diversity and individualisation in training.

To help trainers and training organisations to develop innovative and ICT-based services to improve quality, accessibility of training especially for industrial SMEs, taking into account their own constraints.
