BUSINESS GAME
There are two major reason why business games should be increasingly used in management development program. The first is related to effectiveness of learning. A person learns more by doing something. A trainer taking part in a business game learns while playing the game. The second reason is its relevance to the situation in the industry.

ORIGIN OF BUSINESS GAME

In business game the actual business situation is presented as a model. The origin of management game can be traced to the war games which were devised to train military personnel through demonstration of military situations in Germany. Soon it spread to England and USA.

cnt

The American Management Association in 1950 published their first business game Top Management Decision Simulation. Later on these games spread to many other countries. Recently we are using business games in our academic and industrial programmes.

DEFINITION
According to SIDNEY MAILICK AND NANCY a broad management game is a training technique in which participants grouped in to terms consider a sequence of problems and organise themselves to make decisions.

OBJECTIVE
It

helps to understand dynamic of an organisation. It realises the problems of structure, principles, functions and relationships. It focus attention on team building. The game method helps the participant to learn, help and communicate for maintaining creativity. The games are devised to develop skill for handling more complicated cases.

DEMERITS
General

management games probably do not teach anything very specific about the business enterprise or the management of the firm. Experienced executives probably learn little that is absolutely new to them from gaming, although the experience may affect longheld attitudes. The emotional impact of gaming probably does make it a suitable technique for changing attitudes, provided the game situation is sufficiently clear- cut to pin- point the attitude to be changed.

Although

gaming can hardly be set to teach organisational decision- making, it does provide experience in learning from experience, particularly in the application of statistical and analytical methods. Games undoubtedly do provoke interest which may lead the participant to additional reading and steady.

CONCLUSION
Business games simulate whole organization and provide much better perspective than any other training methods. They allow trainees to see how their decisions and actions impact on the related areas. It increases the communication level in the organisation.
