Scripture Passages

Prayer For Knowledge of God's Creation Almighty and everlasting God, You made the universe with all its marvelous order, its atoms, worlds, and galaxies, and the infinite complexity of living creatures: Grant that, as we probe the mysteries of your creation, we may come to know you more truly, and more surely fulfill our role in your eternal purpose; in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

A Prayer to Start the Day

O, God, Grant us in all our duties your help; in all our perplexities, your guidance; in all our dangers, your protection; and in all our sorrows, your peace. Through Jesus Christ our Lord, our body, and our blood, our life and our nourishment. Amen.
St. Augustine (354-430)

A Prayer For God's Inspiration During the Day Father, May everything we do begin with your inspiration and continue with your saving help. Let our work always find its origin in you and through you reach completion. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen

Prayer For Patience and Gentleness

Bestow on me, O Lord, a genial spirit and unwearied forbearance; a mild, loving, patient, heart; kindly looks, pleasant cordial speech, and manners in the exchanges of daily life; that I may give offence to none, but as much as in lies, live in charity with all men.
Johann Arndt, (1555-1621)

Creator of all things, true source of light and wisdom, origin of all being, graciously let a ray of your light penetrate the darkness of my understanding. Take from me the double darkness in which I have been born, an obscurity of sin and ignorance. Give me a keen understanding, a retentive memory, and the ability to grasp things correctly and fundamentally. Grant me the talent of being exact in my explanations and the ability to express myself with thoroughness and charm. Point out the beginning, direct the progress, and help in the completion. I ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen. St. Thomas Aquinas

Prayer to Jesus Before a Test Lord Jesus, Being fully human, as well as fully divine, you know the pressures and stress that we face right now. We ask that you guide us as we take this test, so that we may do our best. Help us to use the knowledge we have gained, in this class and all our classes to build up your kingdom, for the good of all people. Amen
David Bennett

Failure is not to be seen as negative..it only highlights what one must improve.

The old woman in this passage did not stop until she was given justice. Are we as persistent in our efforts to become closer to God? Maybe the more important question is do we want to be close to God? Today, ask for a burning desire for God. Ask the Spirit to clear your heart of worldly desires and concerns so that you may focus on God today.

12 I am writing to you who are Gods children because your sins have been forgiven through Jesus 13 I am writing to you who are mature in the faith because you know Christ, who existed from the beginning. I am writing to you who are young in the faith because you have won your battle with the evil one. 14 I have written to you who are Gods children because you know the Father. I have written to you who are mature in the faith because you know Christ, who existed from the beginning. I have written to you who are young in the faith because you are strong. Gods word lives in your hearts, and you have won your battle with the evil one.

1 Corinthians 13:48a Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, It always protects, it does not boast, always trusts, always hopes, it is not proud. always perseveres. It is not rude, Love never fails ... it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
